about us
Archrival was founded as a non-profit organisation in 2011. Our vision is to challenge practices in architecture by facilitating unsolicited and innovative architectural projects. This is achieved by uniting individual creative professionals who are often commercial rivals, and allowing the development of experimental work outside of their daily practices. Archrival operates with an agenda to expand the practice of creative professionals, by operating without clients and creating dynamic work environments focused on collaboration and experimentation.
context
Archrival reacts against the conventional paradigm of architectural processes; the slow process of making buildings and outdated procurement methods. By working at a small scale Archrival procures projects quickly, creating momentum and catalyzing change within the industry. Archrival asserts that architectural practice should be challenged in order to remain valid, and exploits new potentials to take a proactive approach to shaping the future.
the art of rivalry
Architects, designers and artists have an enduring rivalry which can lead to extraordinary results. Archrival seeks to harness this creative potential by creating self-directed projects that combine diverse creative skills, offer varying perspectives and allow new practices to evolve.
