Archrival was invited by Vanishing Elephant to create the stage for their Spring/Summer 2013 showcase for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia.
Entitled Mirror Mirror, the site specific installation responded to the rich industrial aesthetic of the historic Bays 1 & 2 Locomotive Workshops in Australian Technology Park Redfern. Mirror Mirror explored an unconventional use of an environmental solar film product, conventionally used for window tinting. The richness of the bronze film echoed the raw materiality of the industrial tools and machinery on display in the functioning Blacksmith’s Workshop, and its brilliant mirrored surface provided a dynamic texture, presenting a cascading liquid metal form.

Over 6m high and spanning almost 10m in length, Mirror Mirror was created using 90m of solar film, 12 lighting stands and black calico. The work was created by a collaborative design team of 4 architects and designers, and a 2 day installation workshop on site involving 8 architects and designers.
