2015 SYDNEY ARCHITECTURE FESTIVAL
Archrival Directors Claire McCaughan and Lucy Humphrey were selected together with John O'Callaghan (JOC Consulting) as Event Directors for the 2015 Sydney Architecture Festival. The Festival aimed to connect people to place through public celebration and engagement. The festival team created a forum for sharing design secrets, broadcasting emerging ideas and revealing global networks shaping Sydney. Embracing the idea that Sydney is on the cusp of a ‘creative boom’, the festival directors curated a four day program, using the hashtags #DesignSecrets #TheGoods #NewCity and #GoGlobal. We asked some of the most inspiring, design-savvy social media identities to help us share the stories of the Sydney Architecture Festival, including 8 Festival ambassadors, 10 Twitter ambassadors, and 10 Instagram ambassadors. The festival stretched from the Sydney Opera House, to Customs House, The Goods Line, Australian Design Centre and many places in-between. The 2015 Festival saw a 40% increase in audience numbers and a strong social media presence, recording more than 1.5m impressions on Twitter and driving more than 250,000 hits in just four days from more than 8,700 visits to the Festival website. #SAF2015 featured a new brand identity, signage and merchandise by Nowhere Famous. The Sydney Architecture Festival (#SAF) was presented by the Australian Institute of Architects (NSW Chapter) and the NSW Architects Registration Board.
